Health Services
The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is a 20-minute drive from Mountain Side Village. Your Village shuttle bus travels to Trail every Wednesday and Friday and will deliver and pick you up from health care appointments in Trail or Fruitvale. Closer to home, Fruitvale's Beaver Valley Clinic has doctors on staff. Dental services are available at the Fruitvale Dental Clinic. Physiotherapy services are available at Better Health Therapeutics.
The accessible Mountain Side shuttle bus heads out every Wednesday and Friday, taking you where you need to go. Most residents book appointments on Wednesdays and Fridays to coincide with the shuttle schedule. On other days, you can catch the BC Transit Bus (Route 43: Glenmerry/Fruitvale). This accessible bus takes you through downtown Trail, the Aquatic Centre, Columbia Gardens, Waneta Plaza, Montrose and more. Our regional volunteer driving program provides transport to appointments in Trail. Ask site manager for details.
Your meals in the Village are prepared by professional cooks, and designed by a team of chefs and a nutritionist. Should you wish to sample other fare, restaurants in Fruitvale include the Fruitvale Kitchen, Burgervale, Milano Express Pizza & Pasta, Subway, the Fruitvale Pub, the Champion Lakes Golf and Country Club and more. There are dozens of eateries in the Fruitvale and Trail area.
You can find most of what you need right in Fruitvale, at the General Store, People's Drug Mart, Country Roads and other shops. Or, hop on your shuttle to access the shopping in Trail.
Fruitvale has two active churches, the Fruitvale Christian Fellowship and St. Rita Catholic Church. You can also attend faith-based services on site in the Village, as the Catholic priest visits regularly. The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses is nearby in Montrose, and most church denominations are represented in nearby Trail.
You can cheer on the Beaver Valley Nitehawks Junior B Hockey Club at the Beaver Valley Arena in winter or attend local baseball and soccer games in the summer. Try curling at the Curling Club, bowling at Beaver Valley Lanes, or golfing at Champion Lakes. You'll enjoy live entertainment and movies in Trail and, of course, you'll be able to see movies and live entertainment in the Village on a regular basis.
Liberty Foods in Fruitvale can provide your grocery needs. The best part is they are happy to deliver grocery orders right to your door! People's Drug Mark also delivers directly to your suite. For additional items not found in the other shops in Fruitvale, hop on your Village shuttle or BC Transit bus for a trip into Trail.
Fruitvale's bank is Kootenay Savings Credit Union. Nearby Trail has most of the major banks to provide banking services.
